One of the fundamental principles of diplomacy is the importance of going to where the audience is located, including popular cultural platforms they enjoy. As societies today are increasingly drawn to technologies and non-traditional influencers, the State Department is leading innovative ways to reach some of the 2.7 billion gamers globally. My task: Should governments continue to conduct outreach through video games? If that answer was yes, then why and how best to do so.
